You have to contact EA support to confirm that the packs you purchased from the 3rd party are indeed not legitimate and after that they should remove the pack in question from your purchased titles so that you can purchase it again using Origin or EA approved sellers. This means they will show as purchased on Origin, and you can even download them, but they will not show up in the launcher, meaning you cannot use them in your game. If EA detects you are using key bought from third party (like G2A), they can "shadow ban" your packs.It has a DRM and cannot be launched without going through Origin and the launcher.You can disable/uninstall packs like normal.The launcher doesn't have the CPU usage issue.It includes the Store content patches by default.You need to do some tweaks to get CAW working.You can not disable/uninstall packs without editing registry yourself.Can be fixed by removing read/write access of Sims3Logs.xml for your user. Because of the above reason, the launcher constantly tries to contact EA and fails, resulting in constant 30-50% CPU usage.This version doesn't have Store content patches and doesn't download them (because EA shut down related servers).Also, if you know where Steam puts the registry keys during installation and take a backup of them, you can even "install" the game without Steam and it would work. You only need to run the game through Steam once to let it setup the game and after that you can directly launch the game without launcher or Steam. They are literally the same game, modding is also the same as well (except core mods but there are only like 10 of them so not that important).Īlso as a side note, Steam should give you CD keys that you can register on Origin, so buying from Steam might give you both versions at the same time (it has been years so not sure)
